Elbow injuries

Understanding elbow pain
The elbow sits in the middle of the kinetic chain between your shoulder and your wrist, so it rarely fails in isolation. Most elbow pain builds up gradually from repetitive gripping, lifting, throwing or racket-sport movements — overloading the tendons that attach around the joint faster than they can recover.
Because grip and wrist movements are driven by muscles that cross the elbow, weakness or poor control at the shoulder and wrist can quietly overload the elbow itself. A thorough assessment of the whole arm, not just the sore spot, is essential to find the true cause.
Our approach
We treat with hands-on manual therapy alongside a progressive loading programme that restores strength and pain-free movement — addressing the load on the tendon rather than simply resting it, which research shows leads to faster, more lasting recovery.
Where relevant, we'll also assess grip strength with a dynamometer and screen your shoulder and wrist to identify whether the injury is being driven by weakness or compensation elsewhere in the chain.

Common elbow conditions we treat
- Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
- Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis)
- Elbow ligament sprains and instability
- Nerve entrapment (e.g. cubital tunnel syndrome)
- Post-fracture or post-surgical elbow rehabilitation
- Overuse injuries from repetitive lifting or racket sports
